Isaiah Scroll
The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956 in eleven rock caves near the ruined site of Khirbet Qumran.
This sensational find comprises around 15,000 fragments from about 850 scrolls from ancient Judaism. Among them are about 200 texts of the Hebrew Bible. They are the oldest known Bible manuscripts to date. An Isaiah scroll was found in Cave 1. It is an almost completely preserved copy of the biblical book of prophets.
